the (growing) list of "will-be-surely-missed things"

While you're reading this, I'm probably finalizing my luggage, boarding the plane, already there, or still at home reminiscing. I've enumerated these things not to remind myself of the things that I will be missing but to give myself something to look forward to when I get back. Please note that there's no particular order for this list, I'm writing whatever comes into my mind. (This list was supposed to be discontinued and deleted because writing all these things brings me to tears but then I've changed my mind, thanks to blogger's auto-save feat.haha!) candle-lighting at the Redemptorist chapel (which I do every Wednesday or whenever I visit) tricyle-ride to the office (with all the cramming and running because I might be late) adobong Carandang (the best of the best!=9) crossing the two creepy little bridges (no hands!) Mulawin pan de sal every afternoon (c/o Jepoy ) overtime with Kat & Meanne malling with Judee , or with Beybi and Tep...

Nakakasabik ba? Oo naman! Lalo pa...

fate & faith

What is FATE ?  Ardictionary  defines it as: The element of chance in the affairs of life; the unforeseen and unestimated conitions considered as a force shaping events; fortune; esp., opposing circumstances against which it is useless to struggle. What is FAITH ? From thefreedictionary , I've read that faith is a confident belief in the truth, value or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. So, what are fate and faith for me? I have no particular connotation nor definition for these two, but I strongly believe in the reality of these mighty words. -oOo- This day last year, I was at a bookstore. I was probably sort of losing my senses that time because I was at my lowest. But then, through browsing some books, I'd read a few lines from one that made me really have faith in something and someone. And the reading goes , SOULMATES are two separate souls who promised to be together in some pro...

Kudos to the Superwoman Who Saved My Life

Image
Do you know this woman? Photo from  http://www.trueknowledge.com She is Dra. Fe del Mundo, a world-renowned pediatrician, a National Scientist of the Philippines, and my savior. I just heard of the news that she passed away yesterday. I don't know much about her but one thing, she saved me. Photo from  http://www.rmaf.org.ph As I child, I was very sickly due to asthma. I can still remember the days when I had to tell the teacher I had to go home because I couldn't breathe, the times when I was coughing like a barking dog non-stop, the nights when my mom and dad had to stay up because of my condition. I was a normal kid. I used to play all day, run around with dripping sweat, eat ice candies & sweets and do other tiring kids' stuff. But unlike my playmates, I used to go home with difficulty in breathing, with fever, flu or cough, and I always had my favorite handy tool with me, the inhaler . One time, when I was in 4th grade, my mom and dad took me to the hospital....

Run for fun. Run for One’s Son. As a child, I was young and carefree, playful and curious. I was able to go to school for about 17 years including three levels at pre-school. If given a chance, I’d still even want to continue for an MA degree or to a law school. Am I grateful? Of course! It is necessary? Perhaps. Does everyone have this chance? NO. Every child deserves a life filled with happiness, love, safety, good health and knowledge. Who wants to see a poor child begging for pennies to be able to feed his sick parent, or his younger sister, even before himself? I don’t. So, every time I see one, not only do I feel a sting on my heart, but wish I can make a difference to his early-complicated life. Sure we all want to help the needy. It’s very innate for a person to be kind and good-hearted. Most of us give them money whenever they approach us, but do all of us realize how little a coin can do something for his growling tummy. Can a peso or two bring them to school? Can it even b...

BOY MISSES GIRL

It’s almost a year since I’ve been away from home. How nice to say that I’m working my ass off to aid my family and to build my own career. I’m not the eldest yet I feel like one. It’s probably a trait, not a responsibility. I’m happy, though, as long as I don’t feel any pressure. But don’t talk about having to miss family gatherings, viewing tagged family pictures where I wasn’t even there, chatting with your parents and seeing and hearing them cry because they miss you. It gives me the sh*t, ok? Homesick, indeed, but I’m strong enough to endure it. I’m definitely enjoying. Add the fact that I get to do whatever, whenever, buy the things I want, party for some time like there’s no tomorrow, and travel as a tourist. Until I remember her. More that the length of my stay here was how long we’ve been apart. Not just physically but you-know-what. Do I miss her? Let’s see. After the “US”, I’ve come across a couple of girls whom I was able to have a relationship with. The last was decent, y...

when KIDS do the grocery.

Image
Dad, Nene & I went to South Supermarket for a little grocery. Dad just sat on the waiting area, managing to fight his  antok.  So, it's Nene and I to do the picking out and paying. I had the list, Nene had the cart. Sabi nya, " O, anong una? " Hahaha! As if she was the  ate  and I was the little sissy. The whole time we were doing the searching and picking, it was her who leads the way. All I did was enumerate, check and pay. She even reminded me how mom wants the grocery items to be packed. :D Oh, kids! They learn too quick, too early. I love  Nene  and I'm one proud ate. :)
